Mystery Reads for Children
The best way to get a child to read is to let them read a mystery. What child doesn't like a good mystery to try to solve on their own? The Hardy Boys are good books for young ones to read as they are full of adventure. Solving mysteries can provide much excitement and satisfaction.
The Boxcar Kids by Gertrude Chandler is another series of mystery books that take these siblings on journeys that one only dreams about. The kids are orphaned and fear their wealthy grandfather. So, instead of going to live with him, they live in a boxcar for a while. They get the chance to meet the grandfather when one of the sisters become sick and find him to be very kind and loving. They find all kinds of mysteries around the town. They are not scary stories; they offer just enough to pique the interest of a young child.
Nancy Drew is another good series of books for children with a lot of things that happen in every day life. The fictional Nancy is an avid reader herself. She like all the rest mentioned, seems to be in the right place at the right time to find something to investigate. In fact, in all of these books, the mystery has a unique way of finding them when they least expect it. All of them are rather curious and like the excitement of a good mystery. They enjoy the hunt to find the answer to whatever has caused them to search.
