The Ghostway is a fantastic fiction novel written by Tony Hillerman, an infamous mystery novel writer. The Ghostway was made into a paperback book in 1992 and, by 2005, The Ghostway was made into an audio CD.

The Ghostway is about a murder in a small town where, one of the main characters, Joseph Joe, helps the police find the killer. The murderer had killed Joe's neighbor, but he did not know it at the time. Along with the Navajo culture, the Lieutenant of the Navajo Tribal police, Joe Leaphorn, and Navajo Tribal police officer, Sergeant Jim Chee, they start their adventure to find the killer. The two, Lieutenant Leaphorn and Sergeant Chee, have the judicial skills to find the solution to the crime, with some help from the FBI.

Joseph Joe was an old Navajo Indian who witnessed a shootout in the parking lot of a Laundromat. While the FBI was investigating the murder, Sergeant Chee had to go to Los Angles to chase after a runaway Navajo girl. While Chee was in Los Angles, he was given the choice to go to work with the FBI. It was a very hard decision to make, for he wanted to stay with his tribe, but his wife wanted him to work with the FBI. With the help of the runaway Navajo girl, Chee was able to make his decision and stayed with his people, his wife excepted his decision.

The novel, The Ghostway, is based on the culture of the Navajo and their beliefs.
